Canon Collins Trust invites applications for scholarships to study for the Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and/or the Master of Laws (LLM) by distance learning at the University of London in 2022. Applicants can start at any level, and do not need to complete the whole programme. For example, applicants can start at Postgraduate Certificate level and work their way through to the LLM, or can stop after completing the PG Certificate. Applicants who have completed an undergraduate degree may start at LLM level, skipping the PG Certificate and Diploma. Are you eligible? In order to be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must be in possession of the necessary qualifications required for admission to the programme. Note that you do not need to be admitted to the programme before applying for the scholarship, but you will need to apply separately for admission if you are selected for a scholarship. Grants are offered to complete study courses and research/training programs in public or legally recognized Italian educational institutions. Scholarships are available to attend academic courses on the Italian territory only. The list of eligible foreign countries can be found on the website “Study in Italy”: https://studyinitaly.esteri.it/en/call-for-procedure. Art. 1 GRANTS OPPORTUNITIES 1.1 Master’s Degree (Laurea Magistrale 2° ciclo) Grants for Master’s Degree courses are awarded for a period of study of 6 (six) or 9 (nine) months. Admission to the first year of a Master’s Degree course in Italy requires the completion of a Bachelor’s degree; admission to the second year is granted to applicants who can prove satisfactory academic progress with their first year exams. To be admitted to a PhD in Italy, applicants need to meet the entry requirements and academic qualifications established by the University; they are also required to provide the admission letter to the PhD from the relevant Italian University. 1.4 Research projects under academic supervision (Progetti in co-tutela) Grants for a research under academic supervision are awarded for a period of study of 6 (six) or 9 (nine) months. This type of grants can be awarded to research projects carried out at Italian Research Institutions (i.e. Italian Research Council – CNR, Italian National Institute of Health – ISS, Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics – INFN, Italian National Institute for Astrophysics – INAF, The Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research – ISPRA, and others), public or recognized Universities, Museums and Archives. Applicants must submit a research project, with the name and contacts (e-mail address) of their supervisor, and provide the invitation/acceptance letter from the host University/Institute. 1.5 Italian language and culture advanced courses Grants for Italian language and culture courses are awarded for a period of 3 (three) months exclusively to students attending an Italian course at a University or at an Italian Cultural Institute. Applicants must provide a certification regarding their proficiency in Italian language. The minimum level required is A2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): https://europa.eu/europass/en/common-european-framework-reference Art. 2 ELIGIBILITY Applications must be sent exclusively through the STUDY IN ITALY portal. Applicants must be in possession of a valid passport or identity card. They must upload a legible photocopy of the document at the time of registration, under penalty of exclusion. Applicants must also be in possession of the following requirements by the deadline date of the call (June 9th 2022, 2.00 pm CET): 2.1 Academic qualifications Applications must only be submitted by foreign and Italian students living abroad (IRE)* holding an appropriate academic qualification required to enroll to the Italian University/Institute (more information on: https://studyinitaly.esteri.it/en/Recognition-of-qualification). 2.2 Age requirements Applicants for Master’s Degree/Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) Programmes/ Italian Language and Culture advanced Courses should have attained the age of majority and shall not exceed the age of 28 years and 364 days by the deadline of this call (June 9th 2022), with the sole exception of renewals. Applicants for PhD Programmes should have attained the age of majority and shall not exceed the age of 30 years and 364 days by the deadline of this call (June 9th 2022), with the sole exception of renewals. Applicants for Research Projects under academic supervision should have attained the age of majority and shall not exceed the age of 40 years and 364 days by the deadline of this call (June 9th 2022). 2.3 Language proficiency 2.3.1 Italian-taught courses In order to enroll in an Italian-taught course, applicants must provide a certification regarding their proficiency in Italian language. The minimum level required is B2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Candidates who were enrolled in an Italian-taught course or in an Italian language course at University may submit a language certification, issued by the person in charge of the above mentioned courses, certifying the Italian language level required. 2.3.2 English-taught courses In order to enroll in an English-taught course, applicants must provide a language certification regarding their proficiency in English Language. The minimum level required is B2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). A self-certification may be accepted for candidates from countries where English is an official language. Candidates in possession of an English-taught Bachelor’s degree may submit a document certifying that the study program of their Bachelor’s degree was entirely held in English. No proof of proficiency in Italian is required for courses entirely taught in English. 2.3.3 Italian language and culture advanced courses For Italian language and culture courses, applicants must provide a certification of their proficiency in Italian language. The minimum level required is A2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Candidates who were enrolled in an Italian language or Italian-taught course at the University or Italian Cultural Institute may submit a language certification issued by the person in charge of the above mentioned courses, certifying the Italian language level required. 2.3.4 PhD programs and Research projects under academic supervision No proof of language proficiency is required for PhD programs and Research under academic supervision. Art. 3 RENEWALS Applicants who have received a MAECI grant in the Academic Year 2021-2022 may apply through ordinary procedures to continue or complete a multi-year degree course (Master’s Degrees and PhD programs) according to the legal duration of the course. Any renewal of the scholarship is granted only to regularly enrolled applicants who can prove satisfactory academic progress. For Phd programs it will be necessary to provide a positive evaluation letter from the tutor. In order to receive the grant, regular enrollment (“iscrizione in corso”) to the Academic Year 2022-23 is mandatory. Art. 4 FUNDING PERIOD Grantees can benefit of the grant in a period of study starting November 1st, 2022 and ending by October 31st 2023. The number of months assigned to the winners and the exact starting date of the grant will be notified by sending the "Dichiarazione di assegnazione di borsa di studio" (Awarding Letter) by the competent Italian diplomatic mission. This document represents the official act awarding the grant. The grantee will have to initiate the university enrollment procedures before the starting date of the grant. Art. 5 INELIGIBILITY Italian Public Administration employees and their first-degree descendants cannot apply for grants. Grants cannot be awarded to attend Single Cycle Degree Programs, Bachelor’s Degree courses (first cycle) or a First-level/Second-level Master, single courses or one-year university and specialization courses. First cycle (“lauree triennali”) courses in AFAM institutions are allowed. Grants cannot be awarded to attend courses in foreign Institutions based in Italy or abroad, nor in private Institutes, Research Centres or Labs not recognized by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR). Grants cannot be awarded to candidates that are being enrolled beyond the prescribed legal duration of the course (it: “fuori corso”). Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be considered. Art. 6 ATTANASIO GRANTS In memory of Ambassador Attanasio and his team members (Vittorio Iacovacci and Mustapha Milambo), also for the adademic year 2022-23, a reserve of three scholarships will be provided for candidates coming from Morocco, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo, who aim to start or pursue their course of studies in the fields of international relationships, cooperation for development, international humanitarian law and human rights, with a preference for Master’s Degrees classified LM-38 (Modern Languages for communication and cooperation), LM-52 (International relations), LM-62 (Political Sciences), LM-81 (Cooperation for development Sciences), LM-87 (Social services and social policies). Art. 7 WIKIAFRICA EDUCATION – HIGHER EDUCATION INITIATIVE In collaboration with the Aurora Foundation, MAECI grantees from the African continent, speakers of African languages, ​​are offered the opportunity to take part in the WikiAfrica Higher Education Initiative. The program promotes the active participation of students with the aim of making specialized information on Africa available online. The initiative is developed by the Moleskine Foundation in partnership with the Wikimedia Foundation and the Aurora Foundation. Art. 8 SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS Applicants must submit the application online, available upon registration on Study in Italy platform at the following link: https://studyinitaly.esteri.it We recommend to register through a frequently used email address, as further communications will be sent to the chosen email address. Applications must be submitted by June 9th 2022, 2 pm CET. Applications submitted after the deadline will be rejected. Art. 9 SELECTION AND AWARDING OF GRANTS 9.1 Selection of the candidates Applications will be evaluated by a Committee set up by the competent Italian Diplomatic Mission. 9.2 Awarding procedures Grants will be awarded on the basis of a comparative assessment of applications according to the entry requirements and other criteria of merit related to applicant’s cv. 9.3 Publication of the Ranking List The competent Diplomatic Mission will publish on its website the list of grantees and any reserve candidates. The ranking list is final. Only the successful candidates will be notified of the assignment of the scholarship through the Study in Italy portal. Exclusion of the name of a candidate in the list of winners and reserves published by the diplomatic mission implies that the candidate has not been awarded the grant. Art. 10 TUITION FEES Grantees may be exempted from the payment of enrollment and tuition fees depending on the policy of each University in line with the regulations on the autonomy of academic institutions. Regional Fees are due anyway. The exemption is not applied for Italian language and culture advanced courses, for which the payment of registration and tuition fees is required. Art. 11 HEALTH AND MEDICAL INSURANCE Grantees will be covered by a health and medical insurance, contracted by MAECI, in case of illness or accident. The insurance is valid exclusively for the duration of the grant. Illnesses depending on pre-existing physical or pathological conditions and dental care are excluded from the insurance coverage. Grantees coming from EU countries are advised to get the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Art. 12 TERMS OF GRANT The winner of a MAECI scholarship, based on the starting date of the grant and the number of months indicated in the "Dichiarazione di assegnazione di borsa di studio" (Awarding Letter), will receive a monthly amount of 900 euros paid quarterly to the personal current account, opened in his/her name, with an Italian banking Institution. The installment of the grant can be received, in conformity with the administrative procedures required, only after the completion of enrollment in the University/Institute and the submission of all the documents requested (Italian Tax code and IBAN). The MAECI will begin the disbursement procedures at the end of each quarter. Individual payments will therefore commence after that period. The last monthly installment will be paid only upon verification of a satisfactory academic progress. Art. 13 INCOMPATIBILITY The grant is incompatible with any other grant offered by the Italian Government or any other Italian public institution, including the scholarships provided by educational regional authorities and agencies. The Grant is compatible with other European programs, such as Erasmus and Erasmus+, and other scholarships offered by international institutions, but it will not be paid for the periods of study outside Italy.

The Centre of African Studies, University of Edinburgh is pleased to announce the availability of one full scholarship for suitable female applicants from Africa to study for an MSc in Africa and International Development and subsequent PhD in African Studies or, where more suitable, go directly into a PhD. The funding covers four years of support in either case. The successful applicant will start their studies in September 2022. This Scholarship is made possible through generous funding from the Stephen Gordon Catto Charitable Trust. It will cover full fees as well as an annual stipend of £15,840 during the one-year MSc and in the subsequent three years of PhD study or throughout four years of PhD study. Upfront support of £4000 will also be provided to help cover UK visa application costs, travel costs to Edinburgh and any other costs incurred by the awardee before arriving in Edinburgh. This scholarship has been designed to offer a combined package in order to enable those who may not feel they have sufficient research experience to embark on a PhD to get that grounding with an MSc. The MSc year helps build a bridge between undergraduate studies and the PhD. We hope the combined package of support encourages some who may not have thought a PhD was in reach to re-consider. A key goal of the scholarship is to diversify the scholars from the African continent who contribute original and important research to African Studies. Where appropriate, we are also able to offer direct admission into the PhD African Studies Programme. If you are applying directly to the PhD, note that you must have received an excellent Masters Degree. In this case, four years of full funding towards the PhD would be awarded. Thematic scope of activities implemented under the Programme The Programme offers the scholarship for full-time second-cycle studies conducted in Polish or in English at the universities supervised by the Minister of Education and Science in the field of engineering and technical sciences, agricultural sciences as well as natural sciences, defined on the basis of the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 20 September 2018 on the fields of science, scientific disciplines and artistic disciplines. For the citizens of the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan the Programme offers opportunity to complete second-cycle studies also in the field of humanities and social sciences, with the exception of philological studies in the field of the mother tongue of the beneficiary's country of origin. It shall not be possible to participate in the Programme within other fields of science. The Programme allows for: 1. starting full-time studies conducted in Polish (Polish-language path) or English (English-language path) at public and – non-public universities in the areas covered by the Programme. The choice of the educational path shall take place at the stage of submitting applications for the Programme and shall be binding throughout the entire period of participation in the Programme. In exceptional and justified cases, the Agency may agree to change the educational path. 2. participation in a preparatory course preceding studies in Poland (the Polish-language path) or a summer Polish language and culture course (the English-language path) financed by the resources granted by the Director of NAWA. The possibility of completing the preparatory course applies only to Applicants within the Polish language path. The purpose of the course is to expand the knowledge of the Polish language and knowledge within major courses related to the future field of study. Summer Polish language and culture course is offered only to scholarship holders within the English-language path enrolled in 2022 and shall be conducted after completion by them of their first year of studies (or the first semester of studies, in accordance with the educational programme applied at the university). The course shall last three weeks during the holiday season. The declarations of scholarship holders on participation in the Polish language and culture course shall be admitted in the summer semester of the academic year 2022/2023. Applicants qualified to participate in the Programme shall attend the course at a centre indicated by NAWA. Assignment to the centres conducting the preparatory course shall depend in particular on the planned field of study and the availability of free places in the centres. 2.4. Eligible Applicants Foreigners who meet all of the following criteria at the time of the call for proposals may apply for a scholarship under the Programme: 1. are citizens of one of the following countries: Albania, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Montenegro, Ethiopia, Philippines, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Colombia , Kosovo, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Mexico, Moldova, Nigeria, Palestine, Peru, South Africa, Senegal, Serbia, Tanzania, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam; 2. do not have Polish citizenship and have not applied for Polish citizenship; 3. are planning to start second-cycle studies or a preparatory course in the academic year 2022/23; 4. at the time of submitting the application to the Programme are students of the last year of first-cycle studies in the field of engineering and technical sciences, agricultural sciences as well as exact and natural sciences, or have a first-cycle studies diploma in the above-mentioned fields obtained in a country covered by the Programme not earlier than in 2020. For candidates from Europe, Central Asia and the South Caucasus, first-cycle studies diplomas obtained in the field of social sciences and humanities shall also be allowed; 5. have not obtained a diploma of completion of second-cycle studies or long-cycle master's studies; If there is no system of two-cycle studies commonly applied in the candidate's country of origin, candidates with a diploma of master's studies or equivalent shall be admitted; 6. have a documented knowledge of the a) Polish language: · minimum at the A2 level in case if applicant is planning firstly start the one-year preparatory course and after course continuing education at the second-cycle degree studies in Polish language; · minimum at the B1 in case if applicant is planning to start the second-cycle studies in Polish language without one-year preparatory course; or b) English language minimum at the B2 level in case if applicant is planning to start studies in English language. 2.5. Timeframe for the project implementation Start date and duration of the Scholarship The implementation of education under the Programme has to begin in the academic year 2022/2023 by taking up a preparatory course preceding studies or by taking up second-cycle studies. 2.6. Procedure for the assessment and selection of applications for financing General assumptions Applications shall be subject to formal and substantive assessment. Formal assessment The purpose of the formal assessment is to verify the applications in terms of meeting the formal criteria set out in this Announcement and in the Regulations of NAWA Programmes for students. Substantive assessment The purpose of the substantive assessment is to verify the applications in terms of meeting the quality criteria indicated in this Announcement. List of required attachments 1. scan of a valid passport [1] with the Applicant's personal data, confirming the Applicant's citizenship, 2. scan of the first-cycle studies diploma in the field eligible for the countries covered by the Programme, i.e. in the field of engineering and technical sciences, agricultural sciences or natural sciences; in the case of candidates from Europe, Central Asia and the South Caucasus - also in the field of social sciences or humanities, including information on the arithmetic average of grades throughout the course of the studies and information on grades obtained for completed courses (or a supplement to the diploma). If there is no average grade on the diploma, NAWA shall determine it based on the grades presented in the diploma or in the supplement. Applicants who, at the time of submitting the application, are students of the last year of first-cycle studies, shall submit a scan of the university's certificate confirming the arithmetic average of grades obtained in the first-cycle studies as at the date of submission of the application. Applicants who, at the time of submitting the application, have not yet obtained a first-cycle graduation diploma, shall submit a scan of the university's certificate confirming completion of the first-cycle studies and the arithmetic average of grades obtained during the first-cycle studies. The above certificates have to contain: 1) full name of the Applicant, 2) information on the average grade (arithmetic average rounded to two decimal places), 3) list of all completed courses with their final grades (on the basis of which the arithmetic average of grades was calculated), 4) name of the university issuing the certificate, 5) stamp/seal of the university issuing the certificate. Model certificate is attached to this Announcement. 3. scan of a document confirming the knowledge of Polish/English language. In the case of Polish language: scan of a document confirming the knowledge of the Polish language minimum at A2 or B1 level (depends on the planned studies path), e.g. a language certificate, a certificate/diploma or other documents confirming completion of secondary school or first-cycle studies with Polish as the language of instruction or a certificate of completion of a Polish language course. In the case of English language: scan of a certificate confirming the knowledge of English language minimum at B2 level (certificate valid as at the day of submitting the application; the list of recognized certificates is attached to this Announcement) or other documents confirming the completion of the first-cycle studies with English as a language of instruction. Citizens of the Programme countries in which English is an official language shall be exempt from submitting a document confirming their knowledge of English. 4. Recommendation letter issued by the applicant’s place of study (foreign HEI) or planned place of study (Polish HEI), or drafted by a Polish diplomatic mission in accordance with the accreditation area of ​​the institution or by a non-governmental organization. If the attachments are drafted in a language other than Polish or English, a translation into Polish or English shall be required. A sworn translation or a translation certified by a Polish diplomatic and consular mission shall only be allowed. In the case of countries where there is no sworn translator or no Polish diplomatic or consular mission, the translation of the documents made by a Polish language teacher or an ordinary translator, certified by the translator's seal shall be allowed.
