The Overseas Scholarship, granted annually to one or two students, is awarded for a maximum of two years for post-graduate study (Masters degree (or equivalent) or PhD) in the United Kingdom at a university of the student’s choice. Since 1994, we have awarded 36 scholarships to the best and brightest young South Africans. In past years students who have been awarded the Scholarship have attended, inter alia, the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford and the University of London across a wide range of disciplines. This Scholarship is available only to students who completed their secondary schooling at any school in KwaZulu-Natal, and you must be in your final year of a postgraduate honours degree, or four year undergraduate degree.

The Dulverton Scholarships are available for applicants who are ordinarily resident in any of the following countries and who are applying to any full-time master’s or DPhil course at Oxford. Preference will be given to those applying for a master’s degree. DPhil applicants and Master of Public Policy (MPP), MSc Financial Economics (MFE) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) applicants will be considered as lower priority. Preference will be given to applicants who have not already studied in the UK or the USA. The Dulverton Trust aims to support projects and people who can make a difference in the world, with particular focus on social issues, the natural world and heritage. The Dulverton graduate scholarships at Oxford form part of that vision, enabling outstanding scholars to undertake world-leading education at Oxford University, with the intention of using the experience and knowledge they gain to provide leadership in their home region after their studies. The scholarship covers course fees and a grant for living costs. Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course. Selection is expected to take place by the end of May 2021.

The AIMS Structured Master’s Program runs over three semesters. The requisite skills phase of the AIMS course builds a standard core set of problem-solving skills: estimation, computation, approximation, modelling, data analysis and statistics. The elective review phase allows students to apply these skills in some of the most exciting areas of science. During the final phase of the AIMS course students do a research project and write a scientific report under the supervision of an expert researcher on a topic of their choice.
